Soon to be my new home!Well, after a week or two or three, I have finally reached my decision and have decided that my next adventure will be taking place in Hong Kong!
It was a tough decision between Suzhou and Hong Kong, mainly because of the considerable differences in the lifestyles and jobs in both places but all in all, in order to get to my next step (International Schools in Europe), Hong Kong was certainly the winner.
From mid August I will be working at Victoria Shanghai Academy on Hong Kong Island as either a Year 1 or 2 teacher. A big change is that I will be teaching the class with a Mandarin teacher and some of the class will be run as bilingual. Also I will have up to 28 students...ekkkk....it's back in NZ standards here! All the children are ESL and as it is a private school, not an International School as such it is mainly comprised on Cantonese speaking Hong Kong children. It will be a massive change, especially since I am used to small school......this school has 76 teachers and over a thousand children.
The lifestyle of Hong Kong will also be entirely different, it will be back to watching what I spend and paying for my own apartment, however LIFESTYLE will make that all worthwhile! I am really looking forward to being able to buy new CD's, books and anything else that takes my fancy! Cantonese food is stunning and I will even be able to join a Netball and Rugby club and make use of their pool and gym. Oh, and a library! HEAVEN!

Well, we will see!
In the meantime, I have less than 4 months to soak up the Chinese lifestyle!
xo

Yay! Hong Kong is a great decision, you'll have a ball! So sad I couldn't come out for a celebratory drink with you last night! xx
