A sick feeling!

International Teaching.................hmmmmmm...............everyone says it is the best thing to get into. Yes, it had it's upsides and downsides but I didn't quite envisage this is what it would be like.

This morning I received the news that a personal friend of mine and the principal at the Suzhou branch was dismissed...with one days notice!!!! Obviously there are 2 sides to every story and the only one I know involves disgruntled, not very hard working teachers and meddling parents, however I struggle to understand how schooling systems, apparently without a fair trial can do something this drastic on such a short time frame!

It makes me sick to my stomach that this has happened, not only to a friend, but the fact that it was with no warning, a lie from the big boss about continuity and a guaranteed job and contract.

My question is.....so who is next, my next question is....is anyone safe and my last question is.......does anyone really want to work in a school where these are the questions we are facing on a daily basis?

I thought International Schools were all about Internationalism and basically, let's face it, about the children........hmmmmmmmm?

Yes, I can say - thank god for Hong Kong (a private school) but it just makes me sick to think that this is how the world operates and nothing is guaranteed.

Very disheartened,

Sending my love out to Suzhou,

Arohanui
